How to set up 'Input Text Field' on an Overlay

Within this article, you will learn how to set up your 'Input Text Field' element is set up to collect the data you are collecting.

Once you have used our article here to set up your form collection - you will need to ensure that your 'Input Text Field' elements are correctly set up and configured in order to collect your data effectively.

The end goal will be for your enquiry form overlay to look something like this:

In order to add an 'Input Text Field' you must first navigate to the 'Design' panel within the Overlay tool and change your settings from 'Basic' to 'Advanced'  in the top right hand corner of the design pane:

Once you have done this you can use the 'Modify Element' pane on the left-hand side of your screen to insert a new element.

Using this area you must then select 'Input Text Field' - drag this over to your Overlay design ensuring that the formatting line turns green as you drag it.

Once you have done this, select the element and you can begin formatting the input text field and ensure you input the correct placeholders and format them accordingly. You can scroll to the very bottom of the navigation panel and use the 'Forms' are to do this.


Field Name: this is what you would like the field to be called when you view the data in the 'Lists' area of the dashboard.

Field Type: this is the formatting for the field so the Salesfire System can read the data correctly.

Validation: this box helps you dictate whether or not this field is required to submit the form and whether or not it need to be a specific type of data as you can see in the image below.

Error Message: you can use this box to either display a default error message or customise what you want the error message to say if incorrect data has been inputted.

Once you have formatted your first 'Input Text Field' you can go on to repeat these steps for as many input fields as you would like such as 'Name', 'Email', 'Phone Number', and anything else you would like!
